Abstract

The book “The Fourth Wave: Leaders, fanatics, and opportunists in the new era of the far right”, by Ariel Goldstein (2024), analyzes the fourth wave of the far right, focusing on its transnational connections, particularly within the Latin American sphere. The author explores the articulation of religious discourses, conspiracy theories, fear-based rhetoric, and the use of social media as political strategies employed by leaders such as Jair Bolsonaro, Javier Milei, and Donald Trump, as well as the role of movements like Vox and CPAC in shaping far-right agendas. In this way, the work highlights the formation of a “reactionary international”, linking the interests of parties and corporations within a conservative and authoritarian transnational network.
