Abstract

The Patriotic Union (UP) was a political movement and left political party, who emerged in Colombia in the eighties of XX century, that drove the democratic aperture in different spaces  as unios and popular neighborhoods, as well as a national order. The purpose of this article is to reconstruct the national political project proposed by the movement between 1985 and 1990, which had as its main axis the construction of a participatory democracy. To address the political project, it used the reconstruction methodology proposed by Enrique de la Garza and Hugo Zemelman, where emphasis is placed on the organizing concepts, recipients, main political actors and main ideas. The analysis is based on four types of sources: political speeches by activists, congresses and official resolutions, interviews realized to activists -made by journals and colombian reviews- and notes from the Semanario Voz.
