Author Guidelines

Requirements for Submitting Original Articles

To submit materials, the following considerations must be taken into account:

  1. Submitted works must be unpublished, and authors commit to not submitting them simultaneously to other publications.
  2. Papers are accepted in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.
  3. No more than four authors per article are allowed.
  4. It is mandatory for each author to provide their ORCID identifier; for more information, visit orcid.org. Articles without an ORCID will not be sent for review.
  5. Articles must include the following:
    • Title: At least in two languages, one of which must be English. For articles in Portuguese, including the title in Spanish is optional.
    • Abstract: Every citable article must contain an abstract in the original language and an abstract in English, each not exceeding 150 words.
    • Keywords: Five keywords related to the article.
    • Curriculum Vitae: A short paragraph specifying the author's or authors' institutional affiliation, highest academic degree obtained to date, and contact email.
  6. The body of the article must:
    • Have a length between 15 and 30 pages. For reviews, the length must be between 5 and 7 pages.
    • Be submitted in letter size format with 3 cm margins, written in Arial or Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing.
  7. The article must adhere to the latest version of APA style guidelines.

Submission Process for Original Articles

Step 1: Requesting Forms
Send an email to contexlatin@gmail.com with the subject "Original Submission" requesting the following forms:

  • Author Information Form
  • Copyright Transfer Agreement

Step 2: Submission of Original Articles
Reply to the email with the following documents:

  • The textual content in an electronic text processor file (.doc format), without password protection (do not send PDFs).
  • Signed Copyright Transfer Agreement.
  • Author Information Form.
  • Individual files for graphs, tables, and diagrams, ready for editing (imported from Excel or PowerPoint into Word).

Step 3: Submission via OJS
After submitting the originals via email, authors will receive instructions for the submission process via OJS. Through this platform, the author(s) will be kept informed about the review process, layout, and publication of their article.

Peer Review Process
Editorial Review
Once submitted, articles will undergo an editorial review, meaning they will be evaluated by the Editorial Team and the Editorial Board. The following aspects will be assessed:

  • The article must pass a plagiarism detection review using the tool approved by the Editorial Board. If the article does not pass this review, it will be automatically rejected, and the author will no longer be considered for future publications.
  • The submitted text must align with the journal's scope and focus.
  • The article must meet all the requirements for submitting original works.
  • The bibliography must be relevant and up to date, properly formatted according to the APA style guidelines.

Academic Review

Articles must successfully pass the academic review process, which follows a double-blind peer review model, ensuring that both the authors' and reviewers' identities remain anonymous.

Each submitted article will be reviewed by two academic researchers specializing in the subject, who will not be aware of the author's identity. This double-blind review process typically takes one month and may result in the following outcomes:

  • Accepted as submitted.
  • Accepted with suggested revisions and modifications.
  • Rejected.

To be published in Contextualizaciones Latinoamericanas, an article must receive two approving reviews. To be rejected, it must receive two negative reviews. In case of conflicting evaluations (one positive and one negative), the article will be submitted to a third reviewer, whose decision will be final.

If the reviewers provide suggestions or observations, the author will have 30 days to implement the recommendations, which will then be reviewed by the Editorial Board.
