Abstract

Periodismo femenino de los años 40: El caso de Consuelo Colón is a research work regarding the search of feminine expression through the journalistic media during the decade of 1940s. For many years, social life was divided in public and private spheres, assigning gender roles and division of collective labour according to the latter. PhD. Cecilia Colón makes an exhaustive search of the tentatives for making visible Mexican women´s ideas since the beginning of XXth century, emphasizing the need to recreate a national identity after the Mexican Revolution. Colón makes visible the means through which this new gender culture was built, emphasizing the role of education and journalistic publications. In order to deepen this, she examines the works of Consuelo Colón, Mexican journalist, whose recovery represents an enhancement for Mexican collective memory and for gender culture.
